Frigate Auction is more than just buying a piece of art. It is a gateway to a world where art and strategy, passion and rationality collide.
Each auction is a carefully organised event. We hold private, invitation-only bidding sessions involving meticulous pre-auction legal due diligence and expert attribution of lots, as well as one-to-one interactions with bidders. Access to auctions is by personal invitation only.

Auction Process
Invitation
Access to each auction is restricted to those whose names appear on the list of approved bidders, ensuring a high level of engagement and confidentiality.
Preview
Private previews of auction lots are organised, lasting from one day to one month depending on the format of the auction. This gives prospective bidders plenty of time to carefully examine the lots, seek expert advice, and make an informed decision. Each lot comes with full attribution and expert opinion.
Registration
Prospective bidders must confirm their commitment by submitting a set of basic documents. They must also pay a registration fee, which will be credited towards the purchase price should they decide to purchase an item. If no purchase is made, the fee is non-refundable.
Bidding
Bids can be submitted in person or online. All bidding is conducted by a professional auctioneer. Each bid constitutes a binding commitment, and the auctioneer’s decision is final. The highest bidder wins.
Payment and Paperwork
The winning bidder will receive an invoice. Payment can be made by bank transfer or card. Once payment has been confirmed, the lot will officially transfer to the buyer, along with a full set of accompanying documents.
Delivery and Support
We can assist with logistics and packaging and offer guidance on export-related matters, including ensuring legal compliance within the relevant jurisdiction.
